Pink dolphin tour on Koh Samui

The Pink Dolphin tour on Koh Samui is not the most popular tour among visitors but in our opinion it should be.

With this tour you have the chance to see the extremely rare and extremely fascinating pink dolphins native only to the waters of Koh Samui and the small islands that surround Koh Samui. The boat staff are very friendly and attentive and double as a Dolphin Protection Team.

Speed boat to Khanom coast

We start the day with your experienced tour guide picking you up by mini bus from your accommodation. After every one has been collected we head to Thong krut pier where we will depart from for the Khanom coast. By speed boat we arrive at Khanom coast, located just above Nakhon Si Thammarat, this is the best area to see the magnificent Pink Dolphins.

Dolphins guaranteed!

We can guarantee a 99% possibility that you will see the Dolphins. After spotting the pink dolphins we will head to Koh Taen area. This is a pristine island close to Koh Samui. There you can experience the amazingly colourful coral reefs tropical sea life by snorkeling, or if you prefer you will have the chance to relax on the peaceful beaches around Koh Taen and Koh Madsum. After you have had the chance to explore  around Koh Tan and Koh Madsum you will be taken back to Koh Samui. We have a Thai lunch at the pier at 14:00. The dolphin tour ends when you are dropped off at your hotel, you should be back at the hotel no later than 16:00.

Crazy Water  Fun

Every Monday, Tuesday and Friday you will also have the chance to visit the “Crazy Water Fun” spot just before Koh Tan. It is a adventure platform drift near the island, where you can enjoy various fun activities. It has a slide, a swing, a rope to swing around and you can enjoy the view over the ocean!

Spotting dolphins

The pink dolphin tour that leaves from Koh Samui offers the best possibilities to spot dolphins. In their natural surroundings they stay close to the coast of the Thai mainland. Your kids will love it! Bring a camera and capture those moments when you see the rare pink dolphin.

Snorkeling

The best snorkeling spots on Koh Samui are to the south of the island. The so called ‘Five islands’ still offer good snorkeling with many fish and coral around. This tour makes a stop around Koh Taen, one of the five islands. If you want you can jump off the boat and enjoy the underwater life!

Saw dolphins but tour guide should check his audience

I took my family of 4 ( 7 and 10 year old kids) to see these incredible dolphins

we saw a pink one and a few grey dolphins, which were said to be the babies. We kept out distance on the boat so didn't get any close up action. Snorkling was incredible and the stop at pig island for beer and ice cream was much needed. We got picked up from our hotel at 8:00, which meant breakfast at 7:30. They don't feed you lunch until 2:00pm so it was really long for the kids. Luckily I had some snacks, bring some along for sure. They did give us 1/2 of a chicken salad sandwich around 12:45. But I'm a vegetarian and told them that when I Signed up. No alternative sandwich for me. The tour guide, Phil, kept saying the "F" word throughout the tour, which was not necessary and completely inappropriate for the kids on the trip. He talked about how if you don't put on sunscreen you're going to get a F-ing burn. And how if you touch the coral while swimming he's gonna tell you to get the F off, just to name a few. My kids and I were shocked. So if you've got kids and you care about showing them kind human interactions, don't bring them in this tour. If you don't have kids with you and you're not offended by people swearing, this is the tour for you.

Everything we could have asked for

We did the whole day tour and it was amazing! We were a small group and everything was fine with the pickup and drop off. The whole staff is super nice and especially the guide was very caring and nice. They lunch was served in the company’s own restaurant and it was super delicious. I made the mistake not to order vegetarian food in advance but as soons as I told them I was vegetarian they prepared extra food for me which was very very kind!

The thing we liked most about the tour is that you notice that the company cares about the dolphins. If you expect this to be a comercial trip with feeding dolphins, touching and playing with them you are on the wrong trip. This tour will show the dolphins in their natural environment. They don’t feed them or chase them so you could get a “better look”, instead they will turn off the engine and just let you observe which is actually so nice and special. I really really loved the tour and appreciated the care they had with these beautiful animals. It was definitely the best tour we made so far!
